概述

Window 的複數形。不過本頁並不是以解釋名詞為重點，而是在介紹 Microsoft 的產品 Windows 。

Microsoft Windows 是一套封閉源碼的圖形使用者介面作業系統，是 Microsoft 公司繼純文字命令列的磁碟作業系統 MS DOS 後，所發展出的新作業系統。

俗稱破窗，這是由該作業系統後門跟漏洞多，修補後漏洞更多的這項缺點而來的。不過也許只是因為花時間在圖形使用者介面的設計，還有打著作權跟專利權官司上的關係，所以才會沒資源可花在維護完善的軟體上吧。（當然這段話是開玩笑的，畢竟是人做的就一定會有漏洞問題，況且專賣產品的商業軟體沒有點缺陷的話，根本不會有人掏錢買新產品的，除非新產品的功能真的能讓人主動想用，而非被迫使用。）

購買

要購買本軟體，你應該直接多走訪幾家實體店家，而不是上 Microsoft 網站，更不是寄信去問他們的客服信箱，也不建議打他們的客服電話（除非你買到有問題的商品），基本上這只是在浪費時間。 Microsoft 本身並不負責販賣，找討論區的人問可能還比較快，不過討論區的人們並不是他們官方的服務人員，所以你不能期待得到正確有用的情報。

購買的詳細說明

要購買合法的 Windows 使用權時，要注意以下事項: （要買的是 Windows XP 時，請參考 Microsoft 網站的『 針對小型企業購買 Windows XP 』頁面）

  1. 你要購買的是哪一個版本？
    1. 2006/06/30 起即不再支援的: Windows 98 Second Edition, Windows ME.
    2. 不確定是否仍有在支援: MS DOS, Windows 95, Windows NT 1.x, Windows NT 2.x, Windows NT 3.x Windows NT 4.x.
    3. 不會再放出更新的: Windows 2000.
    4. 維護中的: Windows XP, Windows XP (64bits), Windows Server 2003.
    5. 測試中的新產品: Windows VISTA
  2. 升級版的適用範圍: 不明。
  3. 同一版本的差異點
    1. Windows XP 有 Professional Edition 跟 Home Edition 的差別，後者是系統管理(如帳號權限設定及資料夾加密跟網路伺服器相關的)功能被刪除掉很多很多的閹割版。不過對一般使用者來說兩者完全無差別，只有對於想用爛爛的 IIS 架站，或是想玩 gpedit.msc 的系統管理者有差。
    2. Windows XP 後方有接 SP2 的，代表是 Service Pack 2 ，亦即是加了許多更新和硬體支援，以及其它一些怪怪的東西的玩意，有時還會讓你的軟硬體變得不能運作，這時建議找你的軟硬體廠商尋求解決方法試試。
    3. 一般版跟教育版，還有大量授權版跟 Microsoft 員工版間的差別，大概就是價格、包裝跟使用授權條款的差別。
  4. 包裝的差別: 彩盒版（彩盒包裝產品」(FPP), 似乎亦稱作零售版？？？）跟隨機版（原始設備製造商 (OEM)），前者是不受機種限制的精美盒裝，後者則通常是會認 BIOS 或隨同主機一起出售的扁平封裝，或是只有貼「真品證明(COA)標籤」於主機上，或是只有給讓你的電腦回到出貨時狀態的還原光碟這樣子的。
  5. 正式的購買管道，可參考Microsoft 產品資訊首頁中的經銷商通訊資料頁面。
  6. 正盜版的區分方式，請參考 Microsoft 網站的『 正版 Microsoft 軟體 | 如何辨識 』之說明，簡單說有以下幾點要注意的。
    1. 價格: 產品價格可於『 Microsoft taiwan _ 採購微軟產品 』頁面找到建議售價，基本上實際買到的會比較低一點，但是幾百塊錢的那種，如果不是提供重灌服務的話，那通常都是需要注意是否為盜版的。
    2. 真品證明(COA)標籤，也是參考『 正版 Microsoft 軟體 | 如何辨識 』頁面。隨機版的則是參考『 How To Tell- How To Tell ? 』頁面。基本上這玩意不能單獨拿來賣，而會賣這個的，八成也是同一個 COA 大量複製後在賣的。
    3. 產品序號(SN, Serial Number): 不管哪種版本的 Windows ，產品序號都是要拆封才能看到的，絕不會寫在包裝外面。
    4. 包裝: 呃、盜版還沒事把包裝弄那麼漂亮當然是違反低成本高報酬的商業原則的。
    5. 下載: 基本上能在網路上下載到的 Windows 作業系統，只有像 Windows VISTA 這種測試版（需訂閱 MSDN 才能下載的樣子），或是像 MS DOS 這種古早玩意而已，這些以外的可下載軟體應該都是違反授權條款的。

購買的簡單說明

以下提供購買時可以進行確認的項目。（註：目前 (2006/03/08) 市面上主要是賣 Windows XP ）

  1. 版本: Windows XP Home SP2 或是 Windows XP Pro SP2
  2. 包裝: 彩盒版或隨機版【註：目前大多是賣隨機版，此版本已經可以買回來直接安裝在你自己所組裝的電腦上了。】
  3. 授權: 個人使用、大量授權、教育版
  4. 合法性與安全性: 套裝電腦或筆記型電腦或 Windows 光碟上的 COA 的雷射標籤、包裝外不會有序號、包裝不會有破損或重新包裝
